Instruction
Cohasset Sailing club offer Junior (10 to 16 years old) and Adult (17
and over) training on our fleet of nine 15' Capri 14, four Club 420s,
and two lasers. The learning process includes a combination of
classroom instruction and sailing. Adult training courses meet for 3
hours on Saturday mornings for shore class and water training.The Club
has limited dock spaces available for individuals who would like to tie
up their dinghies. We can accommodate boats up to 12' in length and up
to 5' in beam. No aluminum skiffs are allowed.
Free Sailing
We offer the use of our fleet for free sailing to any member who has
the necessary sailing knowledge. Free sailing is available Monday -
Friday from 5pm - 8 pm, and on Weekends from 1:30 pm to 8 pm.
Stanton Series
For the racing family, we offer the Stanton Series, which is an
adult/junior racing series for parents or senior family members and any
junior member Mate level or above. these races will be held on Sunday
evenings 7/15, 7/29, 8/5, 8/12, and 8/19 from 5-8 pm, with a family
style
cookout after. At the Junior level, training is sequential with a
first-time sailor beginning in the Sailor class and continuing on in
subsequent years to Mate, Skipper, then Captain. Upon the completion of
Captain's training, a junior will be qualified for Racing Team.
Sailor
and Mate classes are broken down into two groups, White Team and Blue
Team, because of size and to avoid conflicts with Swim Team practices.
If your child is on the swim team, please indicate that on the
application and he/she will be placed in the appropriate team.
Class Schedules
- Junior classes start on Monday, July 2nd,
Adult classes start on Saturday, July 7th.
All students must bring their own life jackets to
each class. Life jackets must be worn while on the water.
